What type of garment repairs do you offer?
We currently repair rips, holes and tears in all clothing (except for knitwear), specialising in technical outdoor-wear/sportswear garments. We can also replace broken/faulty zips, elastic, waterproof tape, buttons and torn seams etc.
How much does each repair cost?
Pricing really varies depending on the garment, fabric and construction type. Please get in touch with us directly for a quote.
How long does a typical clothing repair take?
Repairs really vary depending on the garment and construction type. Whilst one repair could be as quick as 10 minutes, another repair could take over an hour. If garments have lots of stitching detail or glue for example, then it takes a while to stitch the garment back together after carrying out the repair.
What’s the turnaround time?
We aim to get your garments returned to you within a week of receiving them.
Can you make invisible repairs so the damage isn’t noticeable?
Certainly! We can make each repair invisible or visible, depending on the customers needs. Invisible repairs are subject to us finding the closest fabric match possible, which we can liaise with you about.
Do you offer alterations as well as repairs?
Unfortunately not. Whilst repairs and alterations often go hand in hand, at Groovy Gal Garms, we specialise solely in garment repairs, to guarantee the highest quality possible.

How does garment repair help reduce textile waste?
By choosing to repair rather than replace, you extend the life of your garments and keep them out of landfill for longer. Garment repair also helps lower the demand for fast fashion, which means fewer resources are used to make new clothes - saving water, energy, and raw materials. Every time you fix a rip, replace a zipper, or patch a tear, you’re making a sustainable choice that reduces waste and helps protect the environment.
How can I make my clothes last longer?
Taking proper care of your clothes can dramatically extend their lifespan and reduce the need to buy new items. Here are a few simple tips:
Wash less often – Overwashing can weaken fabrics and fade colours. Spot-clean where possible.
Use gentle cycles and cold water – It’s kinder on fibres and helps your clothes keep their shape.
Avoid the tumble dryer – Heat can shrink and damage fabrics; air-dry instead.
Store garments properly – Use padded hangers for delicate items and fold heavy knits to avoid stretching.
Repair small damages early – Fix loose buttons, open seams, and tiny holes before they become bigger issues.
Rotate your wardrobe – Wearing the same items too often causes quicker wear and tear.
By following these steps and choosing garment repairs over replacing items, you can save money, reduce waste, and enjoy your favourite clothes for years.
